...alpha-phase field testing of Exede Newsgathering service from ViaSat Inc. (NASDAQ: VSAT). The testing used the first high-capacity Ka-band Satellite Newsgathering (SNG) vehicle built in the U.S., with a single push-button 75cm autoaquire terminal. The enormous bandwidth and HD transmission speeds enabled by the ViaSat-1 Ka-band satellite system makes the broadcast of breaking stories from the field more convenient, safer, more reliable and more affordable than traditional satellite, microwave or cellular alternatives. The all-inclusive service can provide two-way IP connectivity between reporters and the station no matter the location. Reporters are able to enrich their stories by incorporating images and footage they receive from the station and then upload complete packages, keeping them more productive. Exede Newsgathering terminals are available in van mounted or small, suitcase Pro-Portable configurations.
