RTL II installed a complete DVB over IP solution allowing 200 employees to simultaneously view about 50 TV and radio channels at the work place, with the core of the installation being the Exterity prodaptor chassis handling the 50 DVB-S TV and radio channels, which come from several satellites, all streamed to the in-house IP network.

The prodaptor chassis is equipped with eight DVB-S TV Gateway blades and two SDI Encoder blades. One DVB-S blade can receive and stream two satellite transponders. With The SDI Encoder blades, the in-house program of RTL II can be supplied and transmitted. The prodaptor chassis has redundant power supplies (PSU) and all important modules, including the PSUs, blades and fans are hot swappable. Therewith the best availability is ensured and a simple maintenance is guaranteed. At the users’ PCs, the DVB streams are decoded with the avediaCentre software and can be displayed live on the PC monitors. Additionally, avediaCentre allows the local recording of the streams to the PC hard disk, e.g. for time-delayed playback or for documentation. With IPTV Manager PRO the entire installation can be managed centrally, software updates can be imported, and the system status can be monitored.
