Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (Nasdaq:CMTL) has announced that its Tempe, Arizona-based subsidiary, Comtech EF Data Corp., has received $2.4 million of orders from the United States government for SLM-5650A Satellite Modems and associated redundancy switches that will be used to facilitate satellite-based communications for a government agency. The SLM-5650A Satellite Modem is compliant with the strict requirements defined in MIL STD-188-165A, modem types I, II, IV, V and VI for applications on DSCS, WGS and commercial satellites. Advanced features are available for the SLM-5650A Satellite Modem, including a Network Processor module, integration with the Vipersat Management System for fully automated network and capacity management, and an AES-256 TRANSEC module that is validated to the FIPS-140-2 NIST standard.
"Given the SLM-5650A's reliability, security and bandwidth efficiencies, it is ideally suited for government and military applications — shipboard, airborne or ground," said Fred Kornberg, President and Chief Executive Officer of Comtech Telecommunications Corp. "This order is representative of the U.S. government's confidence in Comtech to deliver infrastructure products to support essential communications."
