[SatNews] Telenor Satellite Broadcasting (TSBc) has signed a contract with Vicus Luxlink for the provision of inclined-satellite capacity on Thor III, located at the 4 degrees West orbital location.

Vicus Luxlink provides teleport and associated services from its teleport facility in Germany, near the border with Luxembourg, and has signed a contract for six transponders (with an option for a further two) following the completion of Thor III’s preparations for commercial service, which is expected in February 2011. With TSBc’s agreement, Vicus Luxlink will install and manage its own platform at Cyta’s Makarios Teleport in Cyprus and will use the inclined-orbit satellite capacity for the provision of more than 600Mbps Internet services in the Middle Eastern region in countries that include Iraq and Lebanon. End-users will require a 2.4m tracking antenna to receive services.
