Vocality + Inmarsat... More Talk—No New Equipment Required (SATCOM)

[SatNews] Vocality has announced it is now shipping its BASICS Multivoice hardware platform for use with...

...Inmarsat Multivoice for FleetBroadband. Vocality is preparing to launch BASICS Multivoice for FleetBroadband, a new hardware platform designed to take advantage of the forthcoming enhancements to Inmarsat’s FleetBroadband service. The device has been designed for use alongside current FleetBroadband terminals, and enables users to extend the single voice capability, upgrading from just a single phone call to support eight concurrent phone calls. This is achieved without the need for any further equipment, beyond the simple Vocality device, and with widely-available, standard, off-the-shelf analog phones.

BASICS Multivoice for FleetBroadband can be connected to a PBX onboard a ship, or can have as many as eight regular low-cost analogue phone handsets directly connected, offering crew, passengers or service people access to high-quality, low-cost voice services. Vocality is working with existing maritime distribution partners and service providers to connect to their crew calling packages where possible. The units will be operational upon launch of the service in Q2 2012.
