Broadcom | Cinegy | Ericsson | JAMPRO (SatBroadcasting™)


  • As the momentum to deploy HDTV programming intensifies throughout the world, Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq: BRCM) has announced its nexgen 40nm HD satellite set-top box (STB) system-on-a-chip (SoC) solution. Broadcom's new technology enables low cost HDTV and interactive services to emerging markets such as BRICA (Brazil, Russia, India, China, Africa). The new Broadcom® BCM7358 HD satellite STB SoC reduces design complexity, size and overall system cost to accelerate deployment of HD satellite STBs throughout the BRICA markets. Broadcom's new BCM7358 single-channel 1080p HD advanced video coding (AVC) satellite receiver chip features a high performance CPU and graphics engine, DLNA® (Digital Living Network Alliance) connectivity support and advanced security functionality. The BCM7358 is now sampling to set-top box manufacturers.

  • Cinegy has announced continued success with digital production workflows for broadcasters at Turkey’s Turkuvaz Media Group with the latest phase, including a transition to HD for selected channels. Turkuvaz Media Group is one the biggest distribution companies in Turkey and is a leading institution and brand within the television sector providing channels such as ATV, one of Turkey’s most prominent and acclaimed television networks along with ATV Europe, MinikA and AHbr TV. Cinegy software is used for every stage in the production workflow; ingest, archive, monitoring and editing. Footage arrives in various formats and is the transferred to the digital archive where teams can access content and collaborate on multiple tasks from different locations. All rights are managed within the Cinegy system to ensure the content is secure. Dependent on access levels, users can then access the clips and metadata in the digital archive allowing material to be used over and over again without any reduction in quality. Changes to material can be made directly from the users’ desks, no need for expensive editing suites, saving time and expense. The digital archive allows collaboration between ATV’s offices in İstanbul and Ankara, removing the time lags, costs and inconvenience caused by the physical distance when using tape based workflows. ATV has been broadcasting in HD since 25th April 2011, and has just undergone a major expansion, adding more than 100 Cinegy Desktops clients to its Cinegy system.

  • The Ericsson IPTV Remote has been named a winner in the ‘Outstanding Technology Innovation’ category at the inaugural Connected TV Awards 2011. The summit's key focus was on solutions that address the increasingly fragmented TV content consumption landscape, and on delivering a unified experience that consumers can easily navigate and find the content they want to watch. The Ericsson IPTV Remote offers a single interface for controlling linear and on-demand TV, Internet video and any media stored on a PC or network storage. Content controlled can be images, video or audio. The IPTV Remote can be used as a secondary screen for web surfing and social media interaction with other viewers. The Connected TV Awards highlight the outstanding achievements in this new category of television and are open to all stakeholders in the TV value chain.

  • JAMPRO ANTENNAS, INC. will introduce its latest mask filter to the Asian market at BroadcastAsia 2011. The new 8-inch, affordable mask filter will join the Company’s economical and flexible range of antennas, combiners & filters, towers, and RF components that address every application in the broadcast industry including DTV, DVB-T, FM and HD Radio solutions. Jampro’s new 8-inch RCEC Mask Filter is designed to provide superior mask filter performance at an affordable price and an output power of 5kw. Cross coupling creates steep rejection skirts and the high-Q cavities provide low pass band insertion loss in a compact design. The Company is also highlighting its RCCC-FM Constant Impedance Combiner family that’s compact modular design can be configured to fit into the smallest transmitter rooms and allows an additional frequency to be easily added when the time comes. These combiners use temperature compensated Bandpass Filters with integrated heat sink tops to keep filters cool and locked on their frequencies. The rugged RCCC-102-FM ensures years of solid performance. Various models are available for different channel spacing. Also on display will be the JUHD Broadband UHF panel antenna is designed as either a side-mount or a top-mount antenna and is based on a modular design and can be configured to provide various azimuth and elevation patterns. Jampro’s UHF Superturnstile Batwing Band IV/V 470 – 860 MHz Antenna accommodates NTSC and CCIR channels with unrivaled engineering. The rugged Superturnstile features hot-dip galvanized structure for long-life and reliable contact at important carrying points, providing today’s broadcaster with superior value.
