Thuraya now has a partnership agreement with SRT Wireless, LLC, a U.S.-based company known for delivering best-in-class technology solutions for global business enterprises, military and civilian government agencies, and non-governmental organizations. The agreement, which is set to deliver a state-of-the-art Software Defined Radio (SDR) Internet Protocol (IP) module, will provide an open platform for developers, enabling easier integration and product development. Thuraya’s new IP module, developed and manufactured by SRT Wireless, will enhance the capabilities of Thuraya’s data products, which are surging in popularity in both the Land and Maritime sectors.

The SRT Wireless IP module design will feature added functionality including Voice, GmPRS/SMS/Fax, integrated GPS and an OEM programmable host controller with Linux SDK package, which will significantly shorten development time and resource needed to bring new products to market by allowing developers to write applications directly to the module to address key vertical markets. Easy to integrate and competitively priced, Thuraya’s new IP module further extends the functionality offered by the wide range of products in the company’s portfolio. At the heart of the module, the open platform will allow hardware manufacturers and partners to develop their own portfolios, creating versatile products to meet high demand and further extend their own range of products.
