Fonenet, a U.K.-based telecom solution provider, will be marketing and distributing ThurayaIP, a competitive mobile satellite broadband service, in U.K. and major African markets.

With a strong distribution network, Fonenet will be targeting key market segments such as oil and gas operations and NGOs offices, as well as private customers. The move follows the signing of a commercial partnership between Thuraya and the Company last week. ThurayaIP, introduced mid of last year, has advanced features making it an ideal communication partner. With a compact A-5 size and transmission speed up to 444 Kbps, it offers video streaming capacity at a speed of 384 Kbps. ThurayaIP meets the needs of several sectors such as the media, government, corporates, NGOs, maritime and individual users who are in need of reliable high-speed data services in areas beyond the reach of terrestrial networks.
