VSN + FLUMOTION... @ NAB 2012 With (SatBroadcasting™—Event)

[SatNews] VSN and FLUMOTION will present at NAB 2012 a new solution...

...to simplify and integrate linear TV with connected devices for live and on demand content. This new solution is addressed to broadcasters and it will help them increase and retain audience, monetize their content, analyze the public behavior and improve the user experience. All, avoiding high-cost investments and duplicating processes. This alliance combines the knowledge and experience of two companies globally well-known for the innovation and quality of their solutions. Both companies have collaborated recently in several projects in order to integrate the conventional continuity of the TV channels with the content distribution offer for the new multiscreen devices. This agreement includes as well some commercial points such as VSN offering Flumotion’s Online Video and Radio Platform solution in regions such as LATAM.

The collaboration of VSN and Flumotion allows the broadcasters to overcome the current market challenges with a robust, reliable and scalable solution that streamlines workflows and saves deployment time and costs. With this solution the broadcaster can reach all the connected devices and focus in developing new online experiences and maximize the content monetization in advertising models, pay-per-use, subscriptions and in-stream ads for live audio. Thanks to the compatibility with several international CDNs, both VSN and Flumotion will offer very competitive services with a secure and scalable solution that provides storage and registered users. Moreover, it also includes the integration with the news production solution VSNNEWS and MAM VSNARCHIVE.

From the technical point of view, the solution is structured with a perfect synchronization to automate and simplify the workflow and content management on live and VOD: First, VSN’s play-out system receives the data from the traffic or scheduling department and manages it according to the Internet broadcasting rights. In relation to these rights, VSN triggers the live streaming encoding, cutting the streaming flow or switching to an exclusive online broadcasting according to the Internet broadcasting rights. Simultaneously, the ingest system generates a file without ads for VoD and catch-up, and syncs up the content plus the metadata with the Flumotion’s Online Video Platform. VSN’s software sends the EPG to the video platform indicating which clips will be the next live programs with Internet broadcasting rights.

Finally, Flumotion’s platform manages the received information from VSN with the streaming format, geographic restrictions, content usage rights, content monetization policies, allowed domains like reproduction technologies (HTML5 or Flash) to guarantee the content integrity and the multi-device compatibility with desktop, Smartphones and Connected TVs. At NAB Show, customers and visitors will be able to see an example of the solution at the VSN booths (N708 and N408).
