[SatNews] Thrane & Thrane has been awarded a DKK 65 million contract by government organization China Transport Telecommunications & Information Center (CTTIC)...

....to supply, install and test a RAN (Radio Access Network) system for their BGAN (Broadband Global Area Network) Satellite Access Station outside Beijing to enhance access to Inmarsat’s BGAN services in China. The contract includes a Radio Network Subsystem (RNS) and a Radio Frequency Subsystem (RFS) which will use the Inmarsat-4 satellite covering the Asia Pacific region. Contract delivery is planned to take place over the next 18 months with the majority of the contract expected to be delivered in the coming financial year.

The RAN system will enable CTTIC to provide the same Inmarsat services as the existing Inmarsat BGAN network. However, it will specifically cover the Chinese landmass and its territorial waters and enable the deployment of value added BGAN services unique to China. The contract will have no impact on Thrane & Thrane’s previously announced expectations to revenue and operating profit for the financial year ending April 30, 2012.
