Integral Systems, Inc., (Nasdaq:ISYS), announced its wholly-owned subsidiary, RT Logic, has been awarded a contract by Honeywell Technologies Solutions Inc. (HTSI) to supply narrowband and wideband modems for NASA's Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS) User Services Subsystem Replacement (USSR) program. RT Logic is leading a team that includes General Dynamics C4 Systems to help modernize the NASA Space Network as part of the USSR program.
NASA established USSR to address obsolescence issues and to enable support of new enhanced services including those required by Constellation, the space agency's next generation human spaceflight program. USSR requires both low rate and high rate modems and their associated test equipment to support both legacy and future Space Network Users. During the Qualification Phase, RT Logic will supply Telemetrix 400XRs (T400XR) for the narrowband modem and test equipment
and Telemetrix 1200HDRs (T1200HDR) for the wideband demodulator and test modulator. Honeywell expects to complete the development and on-site integration by March 2011.
The RT Logic T1200HDR is a software-defined, Digital Signal Processing
(DSP) modem that provides extremely accurate performance across a wide range of data rates. The unit combines high-speed, Analog-to-Digital (A/D) acquisition and Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) based demodulation, bit synchronization, digital processing, and Forward Error Correction (FEC). Due to the flexible nature of the design, the RT Logic T1200HDR has the capabilities to meet the needs of both the USSR wideband receiver and the wideband test equipment. Similar to the RT Logic T1200HDR, the RT Logic T400XR is a software-defined, DSP modem which provides many features that are
tailored to TDRSS spread spectrum and BPSK, QPSK, and 8PSK waveforms, FEC, ranging, and project-specific requirements.
