Avanti Communications Group plc (AIM: AVN), the broadband satellite operator, has informed one and all that Arianespace and its subcontractors have confirmed the Soyuz launch for HYLAS 1 remains on target for launch by September 2010. The fully assembled HYLAS 1 satellite is now in thermal vaccum, making final preparations for shipment to the launch site with no change to the prior schedule. This will be the first superfast broadband satellite launched in Europe. Avanti’s second satellite, named HYLAS 2, is fully funded and will launch in Q2 2012 and will extend Avanti’s coverage to Africa and the Middle East.
