Hughes Europe... Devon Demos (Event)

[SatNews] Hughes Europe and the Country Land and Business Association (CLA) are joining forces at the Devon County Show.

This parnership will attend this event, which is being held at Exeter from May 19 to 21, 2011, to demonstrate how satellite technology can provide rural communities in Devon with high performance, affordable broadband for the first time. At the show, Hughes Europe will enable those visiting the CLA stand to gain first-hand experience of satellite broadband by providing a solar-powered, two-workstation Internet café for visitors to access websites and send emails. “Thanks to the latest Ka-band satellite technology, we are able to provide robust and viable broadband which meets the needs of more remote areas of the UK not served by DSL or cable solutions,” says Christopher Britton, managing director, Hughes Europe. The CLA has a membership of more than 28,000 small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), 25 percent of whom do not have access to broadband. The Hughes initiative is designed to support the CLA’s drive to “put the ‘e’ back in the rural economy.
