Harris — Now Their TT&C Software Heads Into Naval Postgraduate Use

Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) has announced the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) now has installed the OS/COMET® Telemetry, Tracking and Command (TT&C) software in its FLTSATCOM lab. OS/COMET is a commercial, off-the-shelf software tool that provides superior TT&C capabilities for military, intelligence, and commercial satellite constellations. OS/COMET was donated to the Naval Postgraduate School to support studies involving hardware-in-the-loop, partial-simulation or full-simulation satellite operation exercises.

In April 2007, Harris donated OS/COMET software to the U.S. Air Force Academy's Department of Astronautics for the FalconSAT Program. The U.S. Air Force Academy cadets train for and execute space communications assignments using OS/COMET, the most advanced technology available for Telemetry, Tracking and Command. The Naval Postgraduate School uses the FLTSATCOM lab to provide a modern satellite ground control system for academic training and research. The OS/COMET software product is used for the investigation of advanced systems and processes for space assets, development of improved task scheduling and automation processes for ground control tasks – as well as the development of more efficient operational solutions for existing or proposed space systems, potentially involving multiple spacecraft.
