Space Foundation... Cyberspace Confab (Event)


[SatNews] Four high-level speakers, representing military, industry and policy perspectives of cyberspace, will join a roster of illustrious participants at the Space Foundation's Cyber 1.1 conference next month.

Cyber 1.1 is a full-day conference that takes place immediately before the official opening of the 27th National Space Symposium on Monday, April 11, at The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colo. Featured will be...
  • Lt. Gen. Michael J. Basla, USAF, vice commander, Air Force Space Command, discussing "Air Force Space Command's Evolving Cyber Role."
  • Roger Cressey, senior vice president, Booz Allen Hamilton, will speak on "Cyberspace: What's the Interagency Doing?"
  • Gen. Peter Pace, USMC (Retired), president and chief executive officer, SM&A Strategic Advisors and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will address the topic "Are We Beyond Ready to be Ready?"
  • The Honorable C.A. "Dutch" Ruppersberger, (D-MD), will provide a congressional perspective as keynote speaker at the Cyber 1.1 luncheon, co-sponsored by General Dynamics. John Jolly, vice president and general manager, Cyber Systems Division, General Dynamics, is serving as corporate host
The conference will open with remarks by Space Foundation Chief Executive Officer Elliot Pulham and by Gen. William L. Shelton, USAF, commander, Air Force Space Command. Christine J. Harada, principal at Booz Allen Hamilton, is master moderator for the day. Panel discussions include "Industry Solutions: Where is Technology Leading?" moderated by Christian C. Daehnick, senior associate, Toffler Associates. The panel comprises:
  • Jerry Edgerton, president, Government Group, Blue Ridge Networks
  • Maj. Gen. Dale W. Meyerrose, USAF (Retired), vice president and general manager, Cyber & Information Assurance, Harris Corporation
  • Robert Rodriguez, chairman and managing principal, Security Innovation Network (SINET)
  • Keith Uebele, principal strategist, Intel Corporation
  • Kathy J. Warden, vice president, Cyber & SIGINT Systems, Northrop Grumman Information Systems
"The Human Dimension" panel will be moderated by Steven Kenney, business director for Toffler Associates. Panelists include:
  • Jennifer Bayuk, program director of the Systems Security Engineering Program at Stevens Institute of Technology
  • Steven Hawkins, vice president, Intelligence and Information Systems, Raytheon Company
  • Rear Adm. David G. Simpson, USN, corporate director for information dominance
The conference also includes a networking breakfast co-sponsored by Booz Allen Hamilton and interactive demonstrations and a networking reception co-sponsored by Raytheon. Northrop Grumman is providing all-day coffee service.
