Latens has launched CAS 5, a software only Conditional Access System (CAS) which will work on all networks from the same headend, thereby making it a safe investment no matter how operators decide to expand their Pay TV services. Latens’ CAS dynamically detects how STBs are connected to the CAS and automatically allocates the entitlements and permissions to them. This means that when an operator wishes to expand to other network types, or from one-way to return path, they will not have to invest in a new CAS system.
Latens software-only CAS protects a one-way cable or DTH network while offering expansion and return path to an IPTV offering without the need for changes in the headend or deployed customer premise equipment. A software CAS enables operators to offer security across the home on multiple devices: home gateways, advanced 2-way STBs, low-cost STBs, or consumer devices such as PCs and mobile devices. Latens CAS 5 is flexible, dynamically upgradeable and easier to manage than traditional conditional access systems. It even allows operators to secure OTT services across multiple devices, providing a future-proof content and revenue protection solution.
