Techex + Comux UK—An End-To-End Engagement (IPTV—Of SatBroadcasting™ Interest)

[SatNews] The community-owned multiplex operator, Comux UK, has selected broadcast specialists Techex to design, commission and support the end-to-end broadcast network for the local TV broadcasting platform.

Comux has been awarded the Ofcom licence to build, operate and manage the local TV multiplex, with a plan for local TV broadcasting for the next 12 years. It needed a technology partner that shared the company’s long term view, whilst also bringing the flexibility that is vital to a new operator. Techex will design and install all the critical broadcast services from licensee contribution and central network management through to distribution, transmission and monitoring.

Techex has supplied IP-based broadcast systems to all tier-one UK broadcasters, and work with many smaller service providers, bringing a unique understanding of the nature of the local TV platform and the need to be supportive of the individual requirements of each licensee. Comux firmly believes that selecting a partner with significant past experience of launching services will help to guarantee the technical success of the platform.

Techex will liaise with equipment vendors, third party service providers and regulatory authorities to ensure the platform is launched within the proposed schedule whilst meeting all technical requirements. They have significant experience working with Arqiva, Ofcom, DTG and many broadcast vendors. Leveraging existing relationships and commercial agreements, the partnership will help Comux to deliver maximum value for money.
