ST Electronics (Satcom & Sensor Systems) has launched a new series of compact and light weight BUCs (Block Up Converters) marketed under its Agilis brand. The Agilis compact series of BUCs available in C-, X-, Ku- and Ka-Band frequency ranges are among the smallest and lightest in the world. ST Electronics’ new products and end-to-end satellite communications solutions will be showcased at CommunicAsia 2011, Booths #1N3-01 and 1N3-07 (Level 1), Marina Bay Sands, 21-24 June 2011. Designed and developed by ST Electronics, the Agilis 129 Series Palm Size 4W Ku-BUC, which weighs only 0.8kg, operates over a wide temperature range from -40 to +60 degrees and consumes less than 34W DC power. The innovative and efficient thermal design makes this BUC the world’s smallest. At the size of a smartphone, the palm-sized BUCs deliver extremely high reliability, quality and rich features; offering functions covering excellent linearity and phase noise characteristic, high power efficiency, low spurious, automatic temperature compensation, and more.

Light and highly portable, installation is a breeze as the Agilis’ Compact Series BUC can be mounted directly on the antenna feed horn, eliminating the need for interconnecting cables and minimising Radio Frequency (RF) cable loss. This reduces the complexity and installation cost significantly allowing system integrators and end users to benefit directly and quickly from significant cost savings. The BUCs are ideal for both mobile and uplink applications, as they deliver advanced capability for monitoring and control through the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi wireless interfaces.
