Spacenet Nets Major Service Expansion to Europe, Middle East and Africa

Spacenet logo Spacenet Inc., a satellite networking service provider has teamed with Globecomm Services Maryland, a division of Globecomm Systems Inc., to support its expansion of services to Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Spacenet will offer both custom and pre-packaged satellite solutions for voice, video, and data communications exclusively for U.S. based enterprise and government organizations with overseas operations. In support of the new services, Globecomm will provide high security co-location facilities and international logistics including installation and field maintenance. Spacenet will design and manage the international services network, as well as provide 24 x 7 customer support.

Globecomm The new international satellite services, provided by Spacenet and Globecomm, solve not only the logistical challenges of communicating with overseas operations, but many of the quality and security concerns as well. Remote satellite (VSAT) terminals are linked to geosynchronous satellites that are connected to a secure teleport just outside of Washington D.C. Critical customer data doesn't land in foreign facilities or traverse uncertain local infrastructures. All sites can be connected directly to U.S. telecom networks including the Internet and public switched telephone network (PSTN). International locations can also be connected directly to private networks or handed-off to certified gateways for access to high security government environments.

SkyEdge The core satellite network infrastructure is based on Spacenet's SkyEdge VSAT system and will be managed through its 24 x 7 Network Operations Centers in Atlanta, Georgia and McLean, Virginia. The teleport facility, operated by Globecomm Services Maryland, houses the satellite hub and master Earth stations and provides common carrier interconnections, enabling a government-grade secure network. Globecomm is also providing in-field logistics for in-country installation and maintenance for over 60 countries covered by the new service.
