Russian Choppers — Pilotless Products Planned

Kazan Helicopters homepage banner According to the words of head of research services of Helicopters of Russia Vadim Mikheev, the company is actively involved in the development of pilotless helicopters.

In this program, all departments that are part of the Helicopters of Russia (including Moscow Helicopter Plant, Kazan Helicopter Plant, and Kumertau Aviation Production Enterprise are involved in creating experimental models. According to V. Mikheev, a pilotless helicopter is more difficult to create than the drone, with the main difficulties revolving around the technology of the landing of the helicopter. He referred to the bad experience of other countries in this field, in particular a 1970's failed U.S. project for destroyer re-equipment using pilotless helicopters. The Federal Security Service and Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia have shown great interest in pilotless helicopters and specific requirements have been instituted for pilotless helicopter design.
