PacTel International... Laudable Link Labors

Pactel International has announced the successful implementation of a large satellite IP trunk, linking the two French overseas territories of Wallis and Futuna to the International IP backbone via Australia. The link was commissioned only two months after signing the initial contract between Pactel International and FCR Wallis and Futuna in February 2010, due to an immediate need for increased capacity and better load balancing between the two territories.

This project has allowed FCR to supply a continued quality of service to their customers by increasing their Internet connectivity speed and improving protocol and bandwidth management services at a lower cost. The new trunk has replaced an existing service from a different supplier. The latest modulation techniques and cutting edge satellite modems were installed. The installation onsite was performed by Pactel International’s satellite communications specialists, who have enabled the adaptation of the FCR Earth stations to the new technology. The switchover has been performed with a minimum downtime.
