AVerMedia(R) Technologies, Inc. has released their AVerTVHD Duet (Retail) (A188R) in North America. The AVerTVHD Duet is fully compatible with Windows(r) 7 TV tuner and will accelerate existing HTPC (Home Theater PC) to higher levels of HD performance. The unit is designed to receive HD Digital TV Over-the-Air (ATSC) or Unencrypted Digital Cable (ClearQAM) signals directly to your PC! The AVerTVHD Duet has a single input, which adopts the PCI Express interface, which offers a stable and higher bandwidth transmission environment than the traditional PCI bus. Through the AVer MediaCenter application, PIP (Picture-in-Picture) features are supported, which enables users to work on their PC and watch TV at the same time — a Transparent PIP enables the PIP to not cover anything on the desktop that may be needed for additional viewing. PVR (Personal Video Recorder) features such as Pause, Rewinding, and Recording Live TV, as well as Scheduling Recordings and TimeShift, are also part of the AVer MediaCenter application. Digital Sound, Closed Caption, HDTV quality up to 1080i, are just some of the additional features that the AVer MediaCenter application provides.

Envivio Inc., has revealed the newest member of its Convergence Series video encoders/transcoders with the introduction of its 4Caster C4 HD. By increasing measurable video quality by as much as 35 percent over previous generations, and substantially reducing HD bit rate requirements below 6 Mbps, the 4Caster C4 HD offers significant practical advantages to telcos, IPTV service providers and broadcasters. The 4Caster C4 HD will be on display at IBC2009 in Amsterdam, Stand 1.D72, September 11-15, and at SET 2009 Broadcast and Cable in Sao Paolo, Brazil, August 26-28, Booth 76.

FLO TV Incorporated, the provider of the FLO TV™ live mobile TV service and a wholly owned subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), and Rentrak Corporation (Nasdaq: RENT), a multi-screen media measurement and research company serving the entertainment industry, have aligned to launch the mobile television industry's first comprehensive viewership and advertising impression reporting using Rentrak's TV Essentials™ media measurement system. Through their collaboration, FLO TV and Rentrak will deliver reporting that will serve as the currency for advertising sales on FLO TV and provide deeper insights into FLO TV audience viewing patterns while not divulging any individual subscriber's personal information. As mobile TV adoption has continued to rise, the demand for reliable and verifiable viewership data has grown throughout the entertainment, media and advertising industries. Through Rentrak's TV Essentials reporting system, FLO TV will provide ongoing reports to content providers and advertisers to assist them in their programming and media buying decisions for this emerging platform. FLO TV and Rentrak are currently in the integration phase and are planning to share impression data with their programming partners later this year.

intoPIX has debuted their migrating solution for Xilinx® Spartan-6 & Virtex-6 FPGA platforms. With this release, intoPIX enables its customers with a new range of JPEG 2000 IP-Cores, allowing them to significantly reduce their Bill of Materials while giving access to higher performances. Among all new advantages, intoPIX latest solutions propose higher resolutions (up to 8K+), higher frame rates (up to 240 frames per second in 1080p), lower power consumption, lower temperature dissipation and lower cost. This is the world’s first JPEG 2000 codec integrated in a Spartan-6 FPGA that's capable of reaching 1080p 60 frames per second. With the new Virtex-6 FPGAs , intoPIX can now deliver Ultra high resolution JPEG 2000 8K (7680 x 4320) and 4K (4096 x 2160) solutions at frame rates up to 60 progressive frames per second for encoding or decoding. This also enables customers to target Ultra Slow-Motion and Multichannel applications, thanks to the processing capability of the codec that can reach 240fps in 1080p.

Rovi Corporation (Nasdaq:ROVI), formerly Macrovision Solutions Corporation, now has a multi-year, multi-country technology and patent licensing agreement with Samsung Electronics. The agreement allows Samsung to incorporate Rovi's interactive program guide (IPG) technologies into its nexgen TVs and other consumer electronics (CE) devices. Rovi's IPG technologies enable CE manufacturers, such as Samsung, to integrate interactive, on-screen listings into their products to help viewers navigate, sort, select, and schedule television programming. Rovi's guide technologies are designed to provide consumers with simple and intuitive access to digital media content of all types as well as a personalized home entertainment experience that makes it easy for consumers to find what they want, when they want it.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) newest addition to the PlayStation® entertainment experience will be their new PlayStation®Network video delivery service for Europe and the PAL territories. Launching this November in France, Germany, Spain, and the U.K., with other markets to follow in 2010, the service will allow movie fans to download the latest releases straight to their PlayStation®3 (PS3™) and PSP™ (PlayStation®Portable) for viewing at home or on the go. The video delivery service will offer high quality entertainment, available to buy or to rent, from major movie studios with hundreds of titles available at launch. The video delivery service will be fully integrated within the PlayStation Network, using the same log-in, wallet system and user-interface. Visitors can search for movies by name, or can browse categories such as “new releases”, “genres” and ”most popular downloads”. PS3’s progressive downloading allows viewers to start watching a film shortly after the download begins. They can also access certain games or other content on their PS3 while the download is taking place. Consumers who choose to rent have up to 14 days to watch their movie, and, once playback is started, they have a minimum of 24 hours to watch the content. Further specifics for viewing times will be announced closer to launch of the service. Purchased movies are stored on the PS3 hard disk drive and can be accessed at home via PS3 or transferred to PSP for content on the go.

Telestream has released Wirecast(tm) 3.5.3 webcast software, a live video production tool that allows users to easily create real-time and on-demand broadcasts for the web. Version 3.5.3 adds Flash(r) media streaming through Akamai, a leading content distribution network (CDN). Direct integration with Akamai provides access to this worldwide content delivery network directly from within the Wirecast user interface. Wirecast 3.5.3 adds streaming of the Flash web format using Akamai services. Earlier this year, Telestream announced direct integration with Limelight Networks CDN, and streaming service providers Mogulus (now Livestream), Ustream and Justin.tv. Easy setup with these streaming service providers, allows anyone with a computer and an internet connection to easily and affordably share live experiences and build a global community. In addition, Wirecast 3.5.3 now supports Adobe Flash Media Server user authentication, which adds a level of security when streaming live to the web.

From its headquarters in São Paulo, Videodata will provide complete sales and support services for the full Wohler product line of audio and video monitors and closed-captioning solutions. Videodata serves the broadcast, cable, and telecom markets, with clients including TV Globo, Globosat, SBT, TV Record, TELEFONICA, EMBRATEL, EBC, TV SENADO, TV Justiça, REDETV, and others. The company's recent projects include completion of a turnkey installation for São Paulo's first HDTV channel, as well as work as prime contractor for Telefonica Brazil's DTH and IPTV monitoring center.
