At IBC, Arabsat will also be pre-marketing the first of its next three fifth generation state-of-the-art satellites, Arabsat-5A, to be located at 30.5°East and scheduled for launch on Q4-2009. With another two more satellites, one to be launched every year afterwards, Arabsat is demonstrating its commitment to provide satellites to the Middle East, as well as to rapidly expand the field of its services all over the African continent in order to cope with all future expansions expected to take place in this region of the world.
Engr. Khalid Balkhyour, Arabsat President and CEO, confirmed that BADR-6 has now been fully operational at Arabsat’s 26° East video “Hot Spot” over the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region since August, and that it has recently successfully completed the transition of its commercial traffic from BADR-3, now used to provide Arabsat’s broadcast customers with the first-ever “hot” in-orbit backup over the entire MENA region.
