The latest edition of this software is used for the German Armed Forces SATCOMBw Step 2 project. ND SatCom had already developed the forerunner model for SATCOMBw Step 1 and the Dutch Armed Forces. The Duke's Choice Awards recognize the year’s most influential Java technology-based applications submitted by developers and companies from around the world. To identify the award recipients, the Duke's Choice awards committee invites Java community members to nominate the best and most innovative use of Java technology for recognition. The winners are selected by James Gosling, Vice President of Sun Microsystems, Inc. and creator of the Java programming language, and a leadership team based on the creativity of the Java technology-based applications and services.
The ND SatCom Satellite Communication Management Software ensures complete and easy handling in planning and managing satellite communication networks. A crucial element for Sun’s commendation was the user benefit of the software tool with a visually appealing GUI (Graphical User Interface) and intuitive user navigation, which enable the user to quickly capture the software. To fulfil different tasks, the user no longer jumps between different applications, but uses a fully integrated workflow in one modular application. In particular, when monitoring several ground stations at the same time, this workflow optimally uses available system resources and seamlessly bridges the exchange of data between different tasks.
