Lockheed Martin... @ National Space Symposium With... (Event)

[SatNews] Listed below are some of the major programs that Lockheed Martin will be showcasing at this NSS conference.

In the military space arena...

Artistic rendition of the GPS III satellite
GPS III: To sustain and modernize the GPS constellation, the U.S. Air Force and Lockheed Martin are delivering the next generation

SBIRS: The SBIRS constellation is the nation’s space-based missile warning system and simultaneously provides significant contributions to the military's missile defense, technical intelligence and battlespace awareness mission areas

AEHF: The Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) program is the next generation of global, highly secure, survivable communications system for warfighters within all services of the Department of Defense

    MUOS satellite
MUOS: The Navy’s Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) is a next-generation narrowband tactical satellite communications system designed to significantly improve ground communications for U.S. forces on the move

Space Fence: Lockheed Martin is currently developing its technology solution for Space Fence, a program that will greatly enhance the way the U.S. Air Force detects, tracks, measures and catalogs orbiting objects and space debris with improved accuracy, better timeliness and increased surveillance coverage

Within civil space...

Orion: NASA’s first human interplanetary spacecraft, called the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, is designed to carry astronauts beyond low Earth orbit on long-duration, deep-space missions to destinations such as asteroids, Lagrangian Point, the moon and one day Mars

    GRAIL
Grail: Gravity Recovery and Interior Laboratory (GRAIL) is a NASA Discovery-class mission that is unlocking the mysteries of the Moon. By globally mapping the lunar gravitational field to unprecedented accuracy and resolution, the mission will peer deep inside the Moon to reveal its internal structure and thermal history

Juno: As the archetype of giant planets, Jupiter can provide the clues we need to understand the origin of our own solar system and the planetary systems currently being discovered around other stars. NASA’s Juno spacecraft will peer down into Jupiter’s atmosphere and study its luminous aurora and polar magnetosphere

Maven: We know more about Mars than any other planet other than Earth. Yet, we hardly understand the Martian atmosphere and the history of planet’s climate. NASA’s MAVEN mission will change our knowledge

OSIRIS-Rex: NASA’s OSIRIS-Rex mission will characterize and return a sample of asteroid 1999 RQ36 back to Earth. This knowledge may revolutionize our understanding of the early Solar System

And in commercial space...

GeoEye-2: GeoEye’s next generation, high-resolution, Earth-imaging satellite, known as GeoEye-2, will provide significant improvements and technological advantages over existing commercial Earth-imaging satellites. GeoEye-2 features enhanced tasking capabilities, superior image quality and the ability to collect more imagery at a faster rate.

For Lockheed Martin Commercial Launch Services...

    Atlas/Agena
Atlas: Lockheed Martin offers commercial Atlas launch services for all commercial and international government satellite customers. Atlas vehicles can lift single and multiple payloads in the intermediate and large payload class weighing up to 19,600 lbs to geotransfer orbit and 41,400 lbs to low Earth orbit

Athena: For small to medium payloads, the flight proven family of Athena I and II launch vehicles provides reliable launch services for single payloads as well as shared rides for multiple payloads with lift capability to 3,775 lbs to low Earth orbit as well as missions to the moon. Looking to expand launch capability, the Athena III will be capable of launching satellites weighing 10,150 lbs from Alaska and 13, 000 lbs from Kennedy Space Center
