[SatNews] This new contract calls for optimization for the largest wireless operator in the world...
Sevis Systems, Inc, a global provider of mobile backhaul and signaling solutions, has received a multi-million dollar award from China Mobile to provide A.bis optimization across 1,100 sites in China. The Sevis 6000 Series is purpose-built for mobile backhaul applications and includes redundant power supplies, hot swappable modules and enhanced clocking for IP backhaul. The products support all GSM voice codecs, provide bandwidth optimization of approximately 50 percent on A.bis and A.ter links, and are designed to improve overall performance and quality of service over both satellite and terrestrial infrastructures. The 6000 Series is also highly scalable, supporting configurations of up to 4, 10 or 20 full E1 links in a single 1U chassis.
During the evaluation process, Sevis collaborated closely with Wancom Communication & Network Technology Ltd. in Beijing, one of its distribution partners in China. “Our partnership with Wancom was the key to our success, as it enabled Sevis to provide superior customer support to China Mobile during the evaluation process,” said Steve Samaniego, President of Sevis Systems.
With 600 million subscribers across the country, China Mobile is the largest wireless operator in the world. After the magnitude 7.9 earthquake devastated Sichuan province in May, 2008, China Mobile undertook an initiative to implement a disaster recovery network that will enable communications and facilitate recovery in the event of another national disaster.China Mobile will deploy the Sevis 6000 Series mobile backhaul platform on its disaster recovery network to reduce bandwidth requirements by over 50 percent.
