Astrium... Bringing The Pieces Together (Satellites)

[SatNews] Being offered is easier access to space...

The YourSpaceAvenue offer is a solution that will provide personalized access to space technologies in the microsatellite product range up to 130 kg. The project is based on the Myriade microsatellite program. Jean Dauphin, Astrium France’s Director of Earth Observation and Science, said, “”YourSpaceAvenue” offers space solutions to those who thought space was inaccessible. By using existing technology, by enabling customers to tailor services to their specific needs, and giving users control of their own operations without them having to master the more complex aspects of space technology, we will open doors to new customers from the scientific community and service providers.”

From the start of the project, through to delivery in orbit and ground operations, YourSpaceAvenue’s unrivalled responsiveness, flexibility and lower cost will put space-based systems within reach for all these communities, enabling them to innovate and explore new markets. The options available can be found in a catalog available to the general public on an Internet site. Customers can put together a package of services that meets their needs and conforms to their existing setup and budget. For example, customers can select either all, or just specific elements, of a space mission, along with the customized services they need to ensure the success of their space project. The main advantages for the customer are clear: costs and lead times are significantly reduced, with final delivery in under three years.

YourSpaceAvenue is a joint program that brings together the major players in the infrastructure and space services sectors in France's Midi-Pyrénées region, Europe's number one centre of excellence for space technology. Overseen by Astrium and developed in cooperation with CNES, the offer brings together the Observatoire Midi-Pyrénées, the Institut Supérieur de l’Aéronautique et de l’Espace (ISAE), Steel, BTS Industrie, Atos Origin, Cassidian, Capgemini, LATecis, CS and Magellium. It also includes service providers from the region and is open to other partners. The portal for YourSpaceAdventure will go live for the Paris Air Show 2011.
