SMART (Satellite Mutual Aid Radio Talkgroup) operates using the Company's existing sat net and this new affiliation includes electricity, gas, transportation, and water public works agencies and distributors. This is actually the first international SMART Group for SkyTerra. Currently, there are six national and nine regional public entity groups operating on this mutual aid network that is accessed via wireless voice and data services. The monitoring services will be managed by Seattle's Public Utilities Office of Emergency Management, and this agency will also be in charge of additional agency approvals for joining in the group.
