[SatNews] BGAN has won an award that recognizes Inmarsat's outstanding achievement in the telecommunication sector in the Middle East and Africa.

The CommsMEA 2010 'Most Innovative Non-Voice Service' award was presented for the mobile broadband service at a ceremony in Dubai on 30 November.

Inmarsat's senior area manager for the Middle East and Africa, Helene Bazzi, said: "We are extremely pleased to receive this outstanding recognition which truly reflects Inmarsat's premium service.

"BGAN provides professionals with reliable high-speed data links to even the most remote areas around the world. "It meets all their communication requirements across a majority of sectors, especially with its seamless and quick deployment which takes only up to five minutes to get from backpack to broadband connectivity."

The CommsMEA 2010 awards acknowledged operators and individuals that have taken a leadership role in the region's fast-growing and rapidly-changing telecoms sector. Finalists for the 'Most Innovative Non-Voice Service Award' included Iridium, Thuraya and Orange Business.
