Integral Systems (Newpoint Technologies)... Better Backhaul

[SatNews] Integral Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: ISYS) announced at CommunicAsia 2010 that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Newpoint Technologies, has signed an agreement with Supernet Limited. This is Pakistan’s leading satellite service provider and Newpoint will provide a Network Management System to support a large VSAT-based GSM backhaul network being deployed by Supernet for one of the leading regional GSM service providers operating in Pakistan.

Supernet will provide GSM backhaul services over satellite for a network consisting of more than 50 remote sites spread over the mountainous northern areas of Pakistan. The services will enable the GSM operator to extend its mobile services to the remote areas of Pakistan that are un-reachable through any other transmission medium. The network will use Newpoint Technologies COMPASS and TrueNorth Network Management software to provide centralized management of the network assets. The COMPASS product will interface with the equipment at the remote sites, and, using the advanced and highly efficient replication process, centralize all the data via in-band satellite channel to allow NOC operators to remotely manage the equipment. Compass will allow the operators to identify alarms at the remote sites and recover from any equipment failures without necessarily having to dispatch a technician to the site. In the event of a hard failure, the technicians will have the latest alarm information to identify the cause of failure and be able to send the technician with the proper equipment to recover the site without having to make a second trip.
