Overwatch, an operating unit of Textron Systems, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced its Communications Systems business has been awarded a contract by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to demo a Ka/Ku-band satellite communications (SATCOM) antenna for the Global Hawk unmanned aerial vehicle. “This award opens a new market segment in airborne applications for Overwatch’s multiband SATCOM products,” says Communications Systems Business Area Manager Terry Benson. “We are bringing our proven experience and mature military SATCOM technologies to new users.” Overwatch delivers single-band and simultaneous multiband SATCOM system solutions for flyaway, transportable, fixed-site shipboard and airborne applications. The company also is a full-service SATCOM solution integrator.
