Ghana Comms Growth By Gilat

Ghana is the target area for new broadband and cell services via satellite that will be provided by Gilat Satellite Networks (NASDAQ, TASE: GILT) to Dizengoff Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of UK-based Balton CP Limited.

Deployed will be Gilat's SkyEdge II-c hub which is more than able to support multiple applications. Then, the company's Gemini VSATs will bring Ghana schools into the comms picture by providing Gemini VSATs. Combining Gilat's Capricorn's VSATs with their solar-powered CellEdge small cells will extend cell service for several leading MNOs in the country. With Gilat's involvement, the rural comms requirements of GIFEC as established by the Ghana government will now be met by Dizengoff Ghana.

According to Patrick Attia, the General Manager, Communications, at Dizengoff Ghana, Gilat was the only firm that could provide a full, turnkey solution for school broadband delivery and the cell service expansion on a single platform.
