Harris CapRock Communication which manages communications in remote and harsh environments, has commissioned communication services onboard the latest truck to join Allied Wireline’s fleet supporting wireline services to land sites throughout North America. This service is part of an exclusive, multi-year service agreement signed in 2010 with Allied Wireline, a U.S. oilfield services company specializing in wireline logging.
With Harris CapRock’s FieldAccess solution, Allied Wireline’s remote personnel can send and receive critical well data, as well as access voice and broadband Internet. The first two Allied Wireline units were mobilized in November 2010, and the fleet has rapidly grown to 17 units. The units all leverage Harris CapRock’s SafePass™ solution – a Web content filtering service – to provide secure content management and improve network resources. The turnkey solution includes equipment, installation and commissioning, local field service and 24/7 network monitoring and support from Harris CapRock’s global Network Operations Center (NOC).
“Having the FieldAccess solution onboard our fleet of wireline trucks gives us the consistency we need from site to site, enabling our clients to get the information they need by the same reliable communication services, regardless of the remote location from where they are working and receiving data,” said Larry Albert, CEO of Allied Wireline. “Our goal is to provide the most efficient downhole information services and FieldAccess helps us do just that. We believe we are the first wireline services company to put satellite systems aboard all land units, both open- and cased-hole.”
Included in the service provision is bandwidth support for well site data transmission, a major component of Allied Wireline’s offering to its customers. This allows geologists, petrophysicists, completion engineers and other decision makers to access and interpret measurement reports and collaborate with remote field personnel in real time without leaving the office.
“This communication network allows us to transmit open hole logs as data is acquired, but is also utilized to send cement bond logs and correlation logs for perforating and other completion data so engineers can do their work more efficiently,” said Albert. “By using FieldAccess, we can establish a direct communication link with the stimulation companies during critical frac jobs.”
FieldAccess, which launched in 2010 primarily to serve rig contractors and service companies in the land drilling market, solves customers’ requirements for quick VSAT orders, installations and rig moves by leveraging in-region field technicians. To date, Harris CapRock supports several hundred land drilling sites.
