Comtech Telecommunications... Growth Support For Latin America (SATCOM)

[SatNews] Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (Nasdaq:CMTL) announced that its Tempe, Arizona-based subsidiary, Comtech EF Data Corp., received....

....a $1.0 million order for satellite communications equipment. A Latin American mobile operator that is performing a network expansion will use the equipment to support traffic and subscriber growth. The order included modems and RF products manufactured by Comtech EF Data. Both the CDM-625 Advanced Satellite Modem and the CDM-570/L Satellite Modems were specified. The CDM-625 Advanced Satellite Modem combines advanced Forward Error Correction with the revolutionary DoubleTalk® Carrier-in-Carrier® bandwidth compression for maximum savings under all conditions. Given its multi-dimensional optimization, the Modem can minimize operating expenses and enable the mobile operator to maximize throughput without using additional transponder resources. The CDM-570/L Satellite Modems also provide performance, flexibility and functionality ideally suited for mobile backhaul.

For RF products, the Up and Down Converters plus High-Power Outdoor Power Amplifiers were ordered. The Up and Down Converters provide high-performance and cost-effective C-, X-, Ku- and L-band frequency conversion. Spectral purity and stability characteristics meet or exceed the requirements of domestic, international and regional commercial satellite networks. The High-Power Outdoor Power Amplifiers feature field replaceable power supplies and redundant system control. The units use low loss combining technique and MCP-based temperature versus gain compensation. The phase-combined systems allow the outputs of two amplifiers to be summed together for even higher power. The products provide the field-proven performance and reliability required for mobile backhaul operations.
