Welcome & Introduction from the Roundtable Chairs
David Hartshorn, Secretary General, GVF
Chris Baugh, President, NSR

0930-1030 Roundtable One
Setting the Satellite Broadband Scene—How High Is High-Throughput?
This session will explore the satellite broadband market, past present & future. As global data demand grows at C-, Ku- and Ka-bands, High Throughput Satellite (HTS) will provide the ability to significantly accelerate the use of satellite broadband. HTS is addressing user requirements for multi-service networks in the Internet era, and the environment of applications and service in the Cloud. But, what do we understand, what exactly do we mean by “High-Throughput”, and what does this opportunity really promise at the market level, for providers and users?

  • Session Lead: Chris Baugh, President, NSR
  • Arunas Slekys, Vice President, Corporate Marketing & General Manager, Russia/CIS Region, Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES)
  • Ashok Rao, Vice President, Product Development, O3b Networks
  • Aditya Chatterjee, Chief Technical Officer & VP Product Development, Spacenet
  • Bruno Fromont, Vice President, Corporate Strategy, Intelsat

1030-1100
Refreshments & Networking

1100-1230 Roundtable Two
The HTS New Service Provision Paradigm This session will provide a comprehensive, wide-reaching overview of exactly what it is that high-throughput satellite operators are already providing, or planning and preparing to provide using C, Ku and Ka-band solutions. Are operator offerings essentially the same, and “Is all high-throughput alike?” Is there a single, uniform, global HTS geography and marketplace? If not, how are regional market variations being reflected in the offerings comprising regional operator initiatives? Are operators taking only the Ka band route to new services delivery, or is the development of multi-band service strategies part of the play? Where are hybrid technology solutions to be positioned? Fundamentally, is HTS another example of evolution in the satellite industry, or is it really a game-changing revolution?
