The new Jotron B85 stabilized antenna has been designed from the ground up to meet the future demand for operation in Ku- as well inn Ka-band and will form part of the new, highly reliable family of Jotron stabilised antennas.

The Jotron B85 comprises an 85cm maritime VSAT communication antenna with the dish as well as the radome optimized for Ku- and Ka-band and prepared for onboard conversion to Ka-band operation. An upgrade kit consisting of a Ka- transceiver and feed module will be available for easy onboard upgrade from Ku- to Ka-band when requested. The antenna is designed based on Jotron’s long experience in the maritime market in order to withstand the most demanding sea conditions and ship motions including shock and vibration. This will ensure high service availability on all type of ship from small workboats to super tankers.

With the highly efficient antenna where the 8W transceiver is connected directly to the antenna feed, it offers a remarkable RF performance with only marginally difference in the uplink and downlink performance compared to a typical 1m antenna. The integrated transceiver can on command switch between co-pol and x-pol in Ku-band. Extended Tx-band and 2 or 4-band RX-IF is as well provided. Connection between BDE and ADE is based on a single cable only. The B85 antenna can be operated without a ship’s compass connected.

To ensure high service availability and in order to save cost for onboard service, Jotron has built into the system a very powerful web and Telnet tool, the JRAS (Jotron Remote Access Suite). Based on this the antenna can be remotely accessed anywhere and anytime for regular status, diagnosis, support or upgrade of any software in the system. Jotron antenna systems support SCPC, TDMA, Spread Spectrum or Carrier-In-Carrier. The Jotron B85 will be compatible and fully integrated and tested with all leading VSAT Modem providers.
