Thuraya Shares Broadband Solutions at MECOM 2009


Mecom 2009 Thuraya will sharing their expertise and promote their competitive broadband solution to the oil and gas sector as one of the main speakers at ‘MECOM 2009,’ the annual telecom exhibition and conference held in Abu Dhabi. Thuraya is active participant at the Communications for Oil, Gas and Utilities Forum which is part of the three-day event held from 25th to 27th May 2009. Thuraya provides cutting-edge telecom services in urban as well as remote and rural areas through its satellite coverage that spans 140 countries in Europe, Africa, Middle East Central Asia and Asia-Pacific rim.

MECOM 2009’ is a conference and exhibition which is being held for the third year in Abu Dhabi. It provides the largest annual platform for the annual platform for the communications industry to showcase dedicated business to business solutions. Representing Thuraya at ‘MECOM 2009’ Oil, Gas and Utilities Forum was Mr. Maher Ezzedine, Corporate Sales Manager who demonstrated the ThurayaIP solution during the conference. He also talked about other solutions such as ThurayaMarine and Netted Comms which is a new service for group emergency communications.

Thuraya provides an array of solutions that are ideal for the oil and gas industry, and these include mobile satellite handhelds, a high-speed satellite broadband service (at 444 kbps and 384 kbps for video streaming), ThurayaMarine that can be used in oil transport operations, and fleet tracking service for fleet management. ThurayaIP, is an advanced and reliable high-speed broadband terminal that is of a compact A-5 size. The portable solution supports transmission speed of up to 444 Kbps and has video-streaming that works at a speed up to 384 Kbps. ThurayaMarine is a multi-communication device designed for sea farers. Netted Comms is a solution based on ThurayaIP that allows users of different communication tools to cohesively access one another in a closed user group.
