Intelsat General—Moving On Up, Butler To V.P. (Business)

[SatNews] Skot Butler has been named Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Business Development for Intelsat General Corp.

Butler will be responsible for managing the team that serves all of the company’s customers and partners, including the U.S. Department of Defense, NATO, various civil agencies, and commercial enterprises within the United States and Europe. He brings more than two decades of experience in the commercial satellite industry to the newly created position, the result of a leadership reorganization of Intelsat General. He joined Intelsat General in 2006 and most recently was Director of Solutions Development.

“Skot has helped shape the strategies and lead the execution of projects that resulted in key company successes,” said Kay Sears, President of Intelsat General. “His work on the Australian Defence Force hosted payload contract and the new FSCA government contracts has been invaluable to the growth of our company in recent years.”

Prior to joining Intelsat General, Butler held sales, business development and strategy roles at satellite services companies that included DRS, Spacelink, and Verestar. He holds an MBA from the Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland.
