GigaSat Promotes Returning Employee To Technical Director (Executive Move)


[SatNews] The return of a former employee is a plus, most importantly their talents have already been exemplified, therefore fewer surprises.

Tom Cross, Managing Director of Ultra Electronics GigaSat, announced the appointment of former GigaSat Engineering Director, Dr Andy Slaney as new Technical Director at Ultra Electronics GigaSat. “Andy is widely recognized as an expert in his field and brings with him 20 years experience as a communications design engineer.” Tom Cross, Managing Director, GigaSat.


Dr Andy Slaney is the new Technical Director at Ultra Electronics GigaSat.

First employed as Engineering Director at GigaSat from 2004 to 2008, Andy has moved again to GigaSat from his former position as Managing Director of BiTronix Ltd. Previously he worked for Siraia Networks Ltd.  

With a BEng in Communication System Design and a PhD in Electronic Engineering, Andy is renowned for his skill at providing cutting edge systems design consultancy across the satellite communications industry.

Tom Cross, welcomes the appointment: “I’m delighted to have Andy on board to head up our technical operation. No one understands our business better than Andy and he brings with him a wealth of experience. This appointment underlines the investment we are making in technological innovation”.

As new Technical Director at GigaSat, Andy stated, “It’s vital we stay at the forefront of technical development at GigaSat and with Ultra Electronics as our parent company, we’re ideally placed to lead the satellite communications market.

Andy started work at GigaSat on 2nd December 2013. “It’s a pleasure to be back and in my new role of Technical Director, I aim to keep GigaSat at the forefront of product and service development in the years to come.” Dr Andy Slaney, Technical Director, GigaSat.
