DEV Systemtechnik... Feeding LNB Channels

SatNews — New from DEV Systemtechnik is the Controlled L-band Bias Tee DEV 8123, which complements the company’s portfolio with a multi-channel model covering the Extended L-band frequency range and fits into the same compact 1RU enclosure as the L-band Bias Tee DEV 8122. A new feature of the DEV 8123 is the remotely user-adjustable and on/off switchable bias for the antenna’s low-noise block converter (LNB).

Models DEV 8122/8123 are able to feed either two or four LNB channels and offer redundant power supplies with status alarm outputs. They are available in 50 or 75 ohms versions. In the RF part, the incoming antenna signal is split and forwarded to two outputs independent of each other. Satellite ground stations and cable head-ends usually use one of the signals to feed the receivers, the identical other one is transferred to a monitoring system. Model DEV 8123 allows the user to set the LNB bias lower and upper thresholds, which issue an alarm when crossed, by a standard terminal application via an RS-232 interface located on the front panel. Model DEV 8122 continues to be offered by DEV however without the previously available LNB bias adjusting option.
