MTN Communications' Contracts Confirm Customer-Centric Communications (SATCOM)

[SatNews] "...works hard to maintain a reputation of constantly evolving communications solutions for the most customer-centric brands sailing to remote locations around the world,”

MTN Communications (MTN) announces three cruise operators around the world have selected the company for its passenger, crew, corporate communications and content services.  MTN will provide products designed to fulfill the needs of each line’s unique passenger segment.  These products include communications, entertainment and content sharing, crew welfare solutions and corporate operations.

“MTN works hard to maintain a reputation of constantly evolving communications solutions for the most customer-centric brands sailing to remote locations around the world,” said Brent Horwitz, senior vice president and general manager, cruise and ferry services, MTN.  “We are excited to expand our partner base to serve these customers through our unmatched, global hybrid satellite and terrestrial broadband network.  MTN regularly caters to luxury brands with thousands of crew and passengers per voyage.  We take pride in exceeding the highest possible expectations of quality service at sea and welcome these organizations to the MTN family.”

The following operators have contracted with MTN based on the company’s value proposition and reputation for service excellence:

  • Lindblad Expeditions is a pioneering travel company that works in partnership with National Geographic to produce innovative expeditions promoting conservation and sustainable tourism around the world.  The partnership’s educationally-oriented voyages allow guests to interact with leading scientists, naturalists and researchers while discovering environments above and below the sea.  Through its fleet of six ships and four seasonal charters, Lindblad Expeditions takes guests to some of the most fascinating places on Earth including Africa, Arctic Svalbard, Antarctica, Alaska, Asia and Pacific, Australia, Baja California, Central America, Europe, Galapagos, Indonesia, The Pacific Northwest, South America and The South Pacific.  Lindblad Expeditions was the inaugural customer of the MTN OceanCast high-definition (HD) system for live streaming of events from maritime vessels.  Lindblad produced its first TV broadcast near Antarctica from its ship National Geographic Explorer.  James Balog, the founder of Earth Vision Trust, did four live-to-tape interviews to North American network and affiliate news programs.  This provided a dramatic backdrop to Balog’s comments on his expansion of the Extreme Ice Survey to the southern hemisphere.

  • Pearl Seas Cruises has selected MTN as service provider for its inaugural ship, the 210 passenger Pearl Mist, which was recently launched in Baltimore.  The line is offering a new, intimate, luxury service catering to travelers touring the Americas and the Caribbean, and provides them with a backstage pass to the culture, customs and cuisine of these regions’ most beautiful destinations—many of which are not accessible by large ships.  Guests enjoy personalized service, luxury accommodations and amenities, fine dining, enriching onboard activities, and guided shore excursions.

  • Windstar is a sailing luxury small ship cruise line offering the feel of a private yacht with well-appointed amenities, gourmet cuisine, exceptional service and exotic ports of call.  Windstar sails to the Greek Isles, Italy, Europe, the Caribbean, Tahiti, Asia and Arabia.  The operator is renewing its ten-year relationship with MTN, including plans to leverage service on its two newest ships, the Star Breeze and Star Legend, bringing the total fleet to six.

MTN was first in the industry to deliver broadband VSAT (very small aperture terminal) satellite communications to a U.S. Navy vessel.  The company brings more than 30 years’ experience in continually innovating communications solutions at sea.
