SIS LIVE—Broadcast Infrastructure Enhancements (SatBroadcasting™—Networks)

[SatNews] SIS LIVE is in the process of commissioning high bandwidth dedicated fiber networks to key sports and leisure venues across the UK.

SIS LIVE operates the largest uplink fleet in Europe and provides comprehensive satellite newsgathering (SNG) services to all major UK broadcasters for live news, sport and entertainment events. The company is currently installing new enhanced fiber links to all Premier League football grounds, providing connectivity to its rapidly expanding broadcast infrastructure. This includes two 24/7 network operations centers and teleports in Milton Keynes and MediaCityUK for national and international transmission services and monitoring.

SIS LIVE already operates a significant fiber network between its transmission sites, major broadcasters, network operators and UK sports stadiums. SIS LIVE plan to install permanent fibre connectivity to 50 sports stadiums in the UK by August 2014. SIS LIVE aims to have installed well in excess of 100 key sports and leisure venues to its permanent fiber infrastructure by 2016.  Key advantages of the new fibre services include high-bandwidth internet connectivity, voice communications and reverse vision feeds, offering commercial benefits with enhanced capabilities.

Additional services offered include broadcast in 4K, and COFDM wireless camera links at some venues, which allow roving TV reporters to link instantly into the fiber network and deliver multiple live video streams for sport, sports news, and breaking news stories. SIS LIVE has a unique position in the UK marketplace as the only one stop shop, for multiple HD video and data feeds from any location, delivered via fibre and satellite. Its permanent fibre installation service offers a simple pricing structure, with no daily time cap.

In parallel to the expansion of its fibre links network, SIS continues to invest in both its infrastructure and new state of the art SNG trucks with 25 in build already in 2014.
