GlobeCast Australia... Global Goodness

[SatBroadcasting™] GlobeCast Australia’s Summer slate is providing its biggest season ever of delivering global events.

With double its HD DSNG capability, and quadrupled global fibre capacity, it’s a fresh start to the traditionally busy season. The team is helping to bring all the colour and movement of the Commonwealth Games across the Globe. It is just one major event causing celebration. And the celebrations continue right through to global distribution of the famous Sydney New Year’s Eve fireworks. The Games coverage will dominate October viewing, with the GlobeCast Australia team facilitating delivery to viewers on television and mobiles, as far afield as Australia and Canada.

The Company’s 24/7 Master Control and Teleport is switching a signal through to North America, after Telstra downlinks from Measat 3a. GlobeCast Australia is also taking a feed of three channels from FOXTEL for delivery to Vodafone Hutchison Australia mobile phone customers. October also brings two of the biggest rounds of the V8 Supercars Calendar, with Bathurst and Surfers Paradise requiring uplink, global distribution, and GlobeCam’s miniature cameras. GlobeCam will install more cameras for the Bathurst event than ever before, according to GlobeCam Manager Gerry Justus. Planning is also finalised for delivery of the Ashes Cricket Series this Summer for BskyB in HD, using GlobeCast Australia’s DSNG fleet – the largest in the country – its satellite leases and global fibre backbone, according to Commercial Director Andrew Nealon. “From November, this major sporting showdown will transmit to viewers in both Australia and the UK in superb HD. Then, to kick off 2011, GlobeCast Australia will once again provide global delivery via satellite and fibre of the Australian Open Tennis, and in 2011 it is for the first time in HD,” Mr. Nealon said.
