...intends to provide to the program all of its experience in space field, experience that started with the successful launch of Alsat 1 in November of 2002. Since that significant date, which marked Algeria's entry with leading countries in this field, many projects have been achieve—particularly the opening of the Satellites Development Centre (CDS) in Oran and inaugurated last February by the President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, according to Algerian Press Service (APS) reports.

CDS is one of the Algerian Space Agency's operational bodies. It aimed at locally designing and developing space tools to be put in the service of economic, social and cultural development of the country. This centre will also manufacture, using Algerian teams of engineers and experts, its own satellites, including Alsat 2B, which will strengthen the missions of its two predecessors, Alsat 1 and Alsat 2A.
