Hughes Network Systems — Polices Japan's JSAT Mobile Communications


Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), a provdier of broadband satellite networks and services, today announced that its advanced 9350 BGAN mobile satellite terminals are now being delivered to JSAT Mobile Communications of Japan who, in turn, is providing them for the National Police Agency of Japan. The terminals are being used for communications-on-the-move to broadcast real-time videos of emergency situations and natural disasters to police headquarters.
 
Toru Mizoguchi, president and CEO of JSAT Mobile, said, “We have received certification for the Hughes 9350 BGAN terminals in Japan and are providing them to the Japanese National Police Agency. They are ideal for the high-speed, reliable communications required by the Japanese Police to communicate with headquarters about events happening in the field.”
 
Fully type-approved for operation over Inmarsat’s Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) satellite service, the Hughes 9350 BGAN terminal offers high-performance mobile connectivity at data rates of up to 400 kbps, even in the most demanding environments. It comes as a complete, mobile communications package including a broadband satellite IP terminal and tracking antenna.
 
The Hughes 9350 has a built-in Wi-Fi access point, is IP-compatible and offers selectable, dedicated Quality of Service (QoS) levels. It is easy to install on any vehicle—the compact tracking antenna is packaged with a magnetic roof mount and a single cable connection.
