EM Solutions Appoints Global Director of Sales + Marketing (Business Moves)

EM Solutions, a Brisbane-based designer and manufacturer of broadband satellite communications equipment, has announced today the appointment of Gary Shmith as its new Global Director of Sales and Marketing.

Gary brings over 25 years experience in the satellite communications industry and has spent most of his career with the Codan group in pivotal sales, marketing and general management roles in the company’s satellite communications division before it was divested in 2012. He served as Codan’s Executive General Manager for Satellite Systems from 2006 – 2011 where he was successfully involved in both commercial and government markets for RF and microwave products globally.

EM Solutions CEO Dr. Rowan Gilmore said, “We are delighted that we have been able to attract an executive of Gary’s experience and caliber. Through his long experience with Codan, he will assist in all phases of product lifecycle marketing, including concept development, market introduction, channel identification and management.”

Gary Shmith responded “I am excited about joining the company in mid-August and building close and beneficial relationships with all EM Solutions’ customers, partners and stakeholders. There are some tremendous opportunities for all of us.” Gary will be based in Adelaide, South Australia and will work closely with the EM Solutions team in Brisbane and the company’s global sales resources to plan and implement the next phase of the company’s business growth. In addition to his duties with EM Solutions, Gary will continue as a Director of his own business Silent-H Pty Ltd.

EM Solutions designs and manufactures next generation microwave and RF modules and systems that deliver satellite and broadband communications. The company offers differentiated microwave products that embed unique IP, developed to meet demanding customer specifications.

Since 1998, the company has produced integrated RF modules such as low noise receivers and solid state high power transmitters for defense and commercial customers, as well as the complex systems in which they are used. These sophisticated subsystems are used primarily in microwave terrestrial and satellite links, or in other applications such as radar, radio-astronomy, and remote sensing.
