Space Data Association Welcomes Latest Brazilian Member and Availability of Version 2.0


Space Data Association (SDA) an international non profit organization provides operators with enhanced space situational awareness knowledge,  so who's the latest to join? Tellebras, described as a strategic provider of telecommunications infrastructure solutions in Brazil, is its newest member. The SDA, through it’s Space Data Center (SDC), supports the controlled, reliable and efficient sharing of data that is critical to the safety and integrity of satellite operations and the RF spectrum.

Telebras plans to use Ka-band satellites to expand broadband coverage to the most remote locations in Brazil. Jarbas Valente, Technical Operations Director, of Telebras, commented that Telebras is proud of its wide reach in Brazil and is looking forward to enjoying the benefits of their membership with SDA. With an increasingly congested space environment, they have felt that joining the Space Data Association is an important step to secure the future of space safety, both for their own operation and the industry as a whole.

Mark Dickinson, Chairman of SDA, stated that SDA is pleased to welcome Telebras as a member, and is proud to embrace the expansion of their organization, and they look forward to developing a strong relationship with Telebras and continuing to provide an efficient and trustworthy level of service for their members in the future. 

Chris Grogan, Director, SDA, added that they are delighted that the SDA membership base continues to grow with the addition of important operators such as Telebras. With the advent of their next generation system, SDC 2.0, it is very important that their membership adopts this step change in safety of flight capabilities, for the protection of their satellites and also for the whole geostationary environment.
 
SDC 2.0 will become available to both current and prospective SDA members. This service features an independently generated catalogue of space objects, providing transparent, timely and actionable collision warnings. Additionally, SDC 2.0 features functionality to combat Radio Frequency Interference (RFI), including geolocations scenarios and a Carrier ID database.
