MYtv has selected Intelsat, Ltd., for a multi-year capacity contract to deliver its MYtv DTH platform to subscribers throughout the Ukraine over the Thor 6 satellite located at 1 degree West. Intelsat owns 10 transponders on Telenor Satellite Broadcasting’s recently launched Thor 6 satellite, complementing the Intelsat 10-02 satellite also located at 1 degree West. This orbital location serves Central and Eastern Europe.

MYtv will offer subscribers more than 80 channels of movies, music, sports, lifestyle, news and children’s programming. The service will employ DVBS-2 MPEG-4 HD Hybrid Personal Video Recorder to receive both MYtv packages and hundreds of satellite FTA channels and offer additional services such as Push Video-on-Demand, Pay-per-View and interactive channels.

Intelsat will also be exhibiting at stand D2 during AfricaCom 2009, Africa’s annual congress and exhibition for the telecommunications industry, which is being held at the Cape Town Convention Center in Cape Town, South Africa, November 11th through 12th.
