Global VSAT Forum Releases Three New Training Courses


[Satnews] Three just-released training courses highlight the GVF Training team’s activities throughout the week in Washington DC and Dubai at two trade show events.

From the first day of the Satellite 2016 conference to the Saturday HOST, the GVF Training team will be on hand for a full complement of activities at the conference at National Harbor, near Washington DC, 7 - 10 March. Join GVF for discussion panel sessions, explore the new courses, complete your hands-on training, view demonstrations of all of our interactive online courses, or simply meet the team. GVF will will also be active at CABSAT in Dubai on 8-10 March, with an ongoing Summit and staff available for meetings.

Monday March 7: Engineering and Network Security Sessions
Kicking off the Satellite 2016 Engineering and Innovation Forum, Ralph Brooker will moderate the Critical Antenna & Ground Technology Development Milestones panel, which will examine some of the year’s most critical antenna, materials, modem, and constellation developments. This session will be on Monday, March 7th at 10:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. in Room Woodrow Wilson B-D. (Full conference pass required.)

Also on Monday, GVF will present the Network Security Symposium in Room Baltimore 3-5 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. The symposium is comprised of four sessions promoting GVF members and initiatives, discussion topics of Interference Prevention, a two-session series on Securing Satellite Networks in an Age of Cyber-Threats, and Spectrum Threats Post WRC-15.

Tuesday-Thursday, March 8-10: Meet us at Satellite 2016
Throughout the exhibition, the GVF staff and the SatProf training developers will be available for meetings in the GVF booth, number 2138. We will be demonstrating all our training, including the brand-new Carrier ID, Satmotion, and O3b courses, which are included in the subscription/site license program. Thursday-Friday, March 10-11: GVF at IRG Workshop
The GVF type approvals (MRA), cyber security, and training groups will be presenting and discussing activities relating to interference prevention and mitigation throughout the IRG Workshop to be held at Intelsat headquarters.

Saturday March 12: GVF Hands-On Skills Test (HOST), SatProf office
Providing an excellent opportunity for students to complete the requirements for GVF Satcom Professional Certifications, the HOST will begin at 9:00 AM at the SatProf office in Alexandria, Virginia (near Washington). New students may register for the pre-requisite online courses and the HOST at http://www.gvf.org/training; current students should log in to the learning system and browse the Catalog. Meet GVF at CABSAT in Dubai — GVF Knowledge Center
GVF will host the Satellite Hub Summit at CABSAT on March 9-10. It will include discussions of the MENA satellite broadcast and telecoms market, industry advances, and challenges. Throughout CABSAT you can meet the GVF staff at stand Z5-29 to discuss details of the training program and all other GVF activities.

Submit an Engineering Paper for the Applied Innovation Conference
GVF has begun accepting submissions of abstracts for the new technical conference, Applied Innovation in Satellite Communications, which will feature peer-reviewed engineering papers presented in a round-table format.
