Satcom Direct... Winging Into A Website (SATCOM)

[SatNews] Satcom Direct has developed a new web portal for its exclusive FlightDeck Freedom(r) (FDF) service, giving customers dedicated website access to manage and personalize the service and directly access SD Flight Tracker and its expanded features.

The new FlightDeck Freedom web portal links directly to existing service management features plus new FDF features, including in-flight service notification messages. FlightDeck Freedom now sends automatic service notification messages to provide flight crews with immediate in-flight notice of any communications outage that might impact passengers or flight crew. FDF also interfaces with five additional trip planners — Air Support A/S, Baseops International, Colt International, Honeywell GDC, and International Trip Planning Services — bringing the total number of trip planners that integrate with FDF to ten. Satcom Direct’s SD Flight Tracker has also received additional new capabilities. One expansion of service is integration of position data from FAA, NavCanada, UK NATS, and Satcom Direct’s Yonder® broadband service. Other enhancements include a simplified way to change and view settings, plus the addition of new satellite coverage overlays and access to Yonder telemetry information, giving customers a single point of access for satellite systems monitoring and troubleshooting. To further enhance the user experience, SD Flight Tracker now utilizes Microsoft’s Silverlight technology, allowing for faster access to aircraft position and status information. FlightDeck Freedom’s web portal and the new SD Flight Tracker features will be on display in Satcom Direct’s booth (#6221) at the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Annual Meeting & Convention in Atlanta, Georgia, October 19 – 21, at the Georgia World Congress Center.
